Nehal Rachh

Vadodara, Gujarat

A design graduate (1994), she turned to clay immediately as she entered college. After a year at the Kanoria Centre for Arts, Ahmedabad (1995) she trained at Golden Bridge Pottery learning production pottery (1997). This is also where she has learnt a lot of valuable life-lessons.

She embraces things that are old or excavated. When something has weathered, it has survived and holds clues to the past; making it more precious. Exploring the vessel and its journey, has led her to her love for rocks, and geological miracles. Oh, the stories they would tell if they could speak!

The rocks that seem solid and unchanging, she believes, are living energies who simply stand by, and witness everything that unfolds.

"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance.”
